Poverty alleviation goes hand in hand with gender integration as it takes into account different needs of women and men and balances the scale through equitable distribution.

A systematic analysis of linkages and inter-relationships between poverty, gender, and water in local, regional, and central levels is needed before designing gender sensitive-programmes.
